Scanning Tickets

This section is only available if an Event has been configured to use Ticket QR codes, and a Scan Page URL has been set.

"Camera" Tab:

  • If customers present a Ticket QR code, you can use your device's camera to scan and redeem it.
  • Click on the Start Scanning button.  If your device has more than one camera, you must select one from a list (such as a back-facing one).
  • Once you see a live feed of your selected camera on the page, you can begin scanning Ticket QR codes.
  • Align your camera so that the Ticket QR code fits within the "white square" target outline in the middle.
  • The "next step" will take up the entire screen.  If the Ticket is valid, you will see limited Ticket and order information, along with a green Redeem button.  Clicking it will return you to the camera feed to scan the next Ticket.  If this Ticket is part of an order with multiple Tickets, you can click the Manual Redeem button to see a list of all Tickets and buttons to redeem them individually.  There will always be a Cancel button to manually return to the camera feed, in case a Ticket was scanned by mistake.
  • Please note that clicking on a different Tab on the Scan Page will disable your camera feed until you open the Camera Tab again.
  • Please note that a Stop Scanning button will be underneath the camera feed, to manually turn off your device's camera.
  • Please note that you can scan QR codes from any orientation (even upside-down).
  • Please note that you may have to troubleshoot if your camera cannot scan QR codes:
    • Ensure your device is still connected to the internet.
    • The QR code cannot be cutoff in the camera feed.
    • There must be enough light for your camera to see the QR code.
    • If your camera lens is smudged or blurry, you may need to clean it or use a different camera.
    • If the QR code is on a device, ensure its screen brightness isn't distorting the view from your camera feed.
    • If the QR code is on a printed sheet of paper, ensure the paper itself isn't too crumpled.
    • If the QR code is printed and laminated, ensure there isn't glare distorting the view from your camera feed.
    • If all else fails, you can still do a manual search on the Ticket's number.

"Search" Tab:

  • If customers do not have a QR code, they may ask you to search for their order manually, using various pieces of information:
    • EVENTBay Order Number or Transaction ID
    • Customer Name, Email address or Phone number on the order
    • Ticket Number
  • If results are found, click on Manual Redeem to see a list of the order's Tickets.
  • Depending on how the Event's Ticket Types were configured, you may be able to redeem each Ticket in the order immedately.  Otherwise, the Ticket may have already been redeemed, or you are outside the Ticket Type's allowed redeemable date range.
  • Clicking the Clear Search button will also remove the current results.

"Event Info" Tab:

  • Shows the Event's date, its Important Notice, a breakdown of all Ticket Types and their remaining stock, and a breakdown of redeemed Tickets.  A button is available to refresh the breakdown of redeemed Tickets.

"Link / URL Info" Tab:

  • Shows a QR code that redirects to this Scan Page, and a button to copy the current URL.  Use this to quickly share your Scan Page with other scanners at your Event.
  • Please note that if the Event was updated to have a different Scan Page URL, it will break previously shared Scan Page URLs.

"Test Ticket" Tab:

  • Shows a fake Ticket QR code for other to test their cameras with.  If it works, they will see a popup message.
